Caucus will push for bold action on clean energy legislation to reverse destructive impact of climate change
(BOSTON) – State Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) and State Representative Maria Robinson (D-Framingham) announced today that they will co-chair the Massachusetts Legislature’s Clean Energy Caucus (CEC), formerly the Green Economy Caucus.
“I’m impressed by Representative Robinson’s years of experience in the clean energy sector, and her passion for increasing our state’s renewable energy resources,” Eldridge said. “I look forward to working with Representative Robinson to build bipartisan support for a 100% clean energy future in Massachusetts. Our best chance at reversing global warming is to commit to a future powered entirely by clean energy, and pass legislation to systematically reach that goal. When we invest in renewable energy, we also invest in cleaner air, healthier communities, and thousands of local jobs. Time is running out to save our planet and we have to take immediate bold action.”
“I’m honored to be able to bring my background in clean energy to the State House in this role,” Robinson said of her new leadership position. “I look forward to working with my fellow legislators on finding solutions to the most pressing problem of our generation.”
The Clean Energy Caucus will hold legislative briefings to educate themselves and the public on how we can eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels to transition to a 100% clean energy future. The caucus aims to create a statewide dialogue on climate change and its effects, the public ramifications of a warming world, and the economic development potential of clean energy. The Caucus will livestream briefings to ensure that information is available to everyone.
