Eldridge accepted the award earlier this month, which Rivers Alliance Director Julia Blatt said was granted to him after his many years of river protection. The organization also honored state Rep. Carolyn Dykema, state Rep. Dave Rogers, and Alliance founder Kerry Mackin at their annual meeting in Belmont.
Eldridge is the vice chairman of the state Senate Environment Committee, and is responsible for multiple water protection bills and ongoing legislation.
“We were delighted to recognize Sen. Eldridge because he has been a champion of the state’s rivers for many years, first as a state representative, and more recently, as a senator,” Blatt said in a release.
Eldridge’s district covers MetroWest towns including Hudson, Southborough, Westborough, the city of Marlborough and parts of Sudbury and Northborough.
The Massachusetts Rivers Alliance is a nonprofit that aims to protect and restore the state’s rivers.
