BOSTON—Senator Eldridge (D-Acton) sponsored and helped pass an amendment that provides $250 thousand for park and playground projects in the City of Marlborough.
“I am pleased that the Senate voted in support of funding that would go towards renovating our playgrounds in Marlborough,” said Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton). “Physical activity is so essential to the growth and success of children and it is vital that they can access safe and upgraded playgrounds in their neighborhoods.”
These funds will help with a playground replacement on John Street. There is an existing playground that is old and outdated. These funds will also help with the addition of a Splash and Spray area at Ghiloni Park (a very popular Park in Marlborough located on Concord Road).
Neighboring communities such as Northborough and Hudson have splash and spray areas that are very popular with kids and parents on hot days.
Senator Eldridge will continue to advocate for this funding in the budget as the FY16 Senate budget will be sent to conference committee next where House and Senate conferees will meet to continue negotiations on a final version.
