Sen. Eldridge, Reps Gregoire & Gentile announce $15,000 grant awarded to the Marlborough Downtown Village Cultural District

MARLBOROUGHState Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Marlborough), State Representative Danielle Gregoire (D-Marlborough) and State Representative Carmine Gentile (D-Sudbury) are excited to announce that the Marlborough Downtown Village Cultural District has received a $15,000 Cultural District Investment Grant from the Mass Cultural Council as part of its Fiscal Year 2026 budget.

Established by the Legislature in 2011, Massachusetts cultural districts support local hubs of arts, culture, and creativity across the Commonwealth. The investment grants provide flexible funding for community engagement, marketing, capacity building, and public-facing cultural projects.

The Marlborough Downtown Village Cultural District is a thriving and diverse community with a scenic street scape, bustling restaurant and business scene, and iconic historic buildings. This funding will strengthen ongoing efforts to preserve and enhance the downtown while expanding programming and public access to the arts.

“Preserving the beautiful Marlborough downtown is critical to celebrating culture and community. I’m extremely grateful to the Mass Cultural Council for their commitment to serving our community and the work of the Marlborough Cultural Council to secure this funding” said State Senator Eldridge (D-Marlborough). “Marlborough is an excellent example of the necessity and benefits of both maintaining and enhancing our history. This funding will enable greater collaboration between the city, state, and community organizations to deliver for the public.”

“Strategic investments in our cultural districts are a key component to strengthen local economies and enhance quality of life across the Commonwealth,” said State Representative Gregoire (D-Marlborough). “This $15,000 Cultural District Investment Grant from the Mass Cultural Council will support targeted programming, marketing, and capacity-building efforts that drive small business growth, increase public engagement, and maintain Marlborough’s downtown area as a regional economic and cultural center.”

I am grateful for this grant to the Village Cultural District and confident that the Marlborough Cultural Council will put these monies to very good use enhancing the Downtown area for everyone’s benefit,” said Representative Gentile (D-Sudbury).
