Funding will support the development of new and existing Career Technical Education (CTE) Programs in Marlborough.
MARLBOROUGH – Senator Jamie Eldridge (D – Marlborough), alongside Representative Danielle W. Gregoire (D – Marlborough), and Representative Carmine Gentile (D – Marlborough), are excited to announce that Marlborough has been awarded $35,000 by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) through the CTE Partnership Program Planning Grant.
The funding will support staff at Marlborough’s Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School in developing curriculum programs outside of regular school hours, helping further prepare students to earn industry-recognized credentials and participate in work-based learning opportunities. A portion of the funding will also support the pre-construction design, agricultural, and engineering activities to ensure that students are learning in safe and appropriate instructional environments.
Career and Technical Education (CTE) is an educational model that prepares students to graduate with the skills to help them succeed in both the workforce and post-secondary education by combining academic instruction with real-world, work-based experience. Funding for the districts is supported through the DESE Fiscal Year 2027 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Partnership and Program Planning grants. This grant program is aimed at supporting the development of CTE organizations that increase student opportunities through more effective use and integration of existing capacity and resources.
“I am very pleased to see this investment in career and technical education for the students at the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School. By supporting the development of these programs, we’re helping students gain the hands-on experience and practical skills they need to pursue meaningful post-graduation opportunities,” said State Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Marlborough), “Investing in these programs is an important step towards preparing our students for success and strengthening our local communities. I am grateful for the leadership of both the Marlborough School District and the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School District for this incredible partnership!
“Investing in our students is one of the most important steps we can take toward improving the future of our communities. The money from this grant will help Marlborough provide opportunities that will ultimately help students succeed in today’s workforce,” said State Representative Danielle Gregoire (D-Marlborough). "Marlborough is yet again demonstrating its commitment to delivering vital educational programs and preparing the next generation of skilled workers.”
